What started out as a guitar and synths project (Cut the Engines, Raise the Sails 2007), re-directed itself into a scattered and noisy folk two piece (Plumb the Depths 2009), evolved into a guitar-heavy 3 piece (Concrete Canyons 2010) has now grown into an alternative 4-piece. The band find themselves spellbound by bands such as Dirty Three, Sonic Youth, Neil Young, Polvo, The New Year, Bill Callahan and Sun Kil Moon. They have just released their new album “Tied in Knots”

Featuring the respective talents of Harry Smith, Aine Gallagher, everybody’s favourite German Daniel Hoffman along with Ireland’s top young comic-the irrepressible sex symbol that is Mister Alan Porter- and much more, the Workmans club on the 22nd caters for all nationalities, tastes and religious dominations (except possibly Mormons). Do you want to see Ireland’s newest and best comedians? Then don’t wait until they’re established and expensive, catch them now while they’re young and cheap. Entrance fee just 5 euro. The Plateau Sessions is an open mic night that features some special guest acts from all over Ireland. Taking place every second week to offer you a great night of music for absolutely free!! Setup by Control Promotions recently, it offers a plateau in which potential singer/songwriters of the future can have a chance to play on the same stage with some of Irelands already established talent!!

Songs are made to be shared so we’ve put together a night to do just that!! Share songs acoustic guitar will be on hand but if you want to bring your own that’s cool, the more the merrier as they say… violin, keyboard, harmonica, whatever aslong as its in tune bring it!

The night also features late night DJ Shane O’Reilly (Bipolar Empire) playing some of Rock’n’Rolls finest tunes. Plus some cool drink promos!!

Plus some special guest acts “Resoul and Empire Saints”

Resoul: Resoul play a style of alternative rock that draws upon the bands influences from 60’s guitar bands such as The Kinks, the Who, The Yardbirds and The Beatles along with later day groups such as The Stone Roses, Oasis and the La’s. The band will be coming to do a special acoustic set at The Plateau Sessions, Rock’n’Roll acoustic style!!

Empire Saints: Empire Saints were formed in 2008 by brother’s Fiachra & Uisneagh Treacy. Shortly after, long-time friend Noel Healy, drummer & co songwriter joined the Saints along with guitarist Pete Cheevers. The one thing in common was to write and play music that had a real meaning and purpose. Locking themselves away in the studio and various rehearsal spaces for 10 months the songs and a sound began to take shape, a life of its own even. Various influences can be heard in the music, from Early U2, David Bowie, Joy division to The Police and The Band.
