Our Little Secrets – 20/11/10
The Workman’s Club presents
OUR LITTLE SECRETS

With Special Guest Maeve Higgins
On SATURDAY 20th NOVEMBER 2010
Tickets €10.00 from www.tickets.ie
Having recently completed national tours with the likes of Cathy Davey & Villagers, and opened for such luminaries as Tori Amos, Kristin Hersh and Gil Scott Heron, Dublin band Our Little Secrets are returning home for a headline show with special guests as well as being accompanied by comedienne Maeve Higgins, in The Workman’s Club on Saturday, November 20th.
Our Little Secrets, a merry band of friends and cohorts led by chief composer Rhob Cunningham, released their debut (and self-titled) album earlier this year and have since been spending their time lugging musical equipment across the country in various guises, becoming very acquainted with the ins and outs of both Iarnród & Bus Éireann.
With “assured complexity and a series of thoughtful, unerringly tuneful songs”(state.ie), their “pastoral, laidback folk” (Irish Times) has been compared to everyone from
R. Adams to R. Zimmerman, but for the sake of this press release, shall we say the band sound like, I dunno, The Beatles circa ’65 jamming with your grandchildren?
The appetiser before the main course on the night will be provided by the significant talents of comedienne Maeve Higgins. That is not intended to be taken in the literal sense though; food may or may not be served. Higgins is one of Ireland’s most beloved comedians, who loves nothing more than getting up on a stage with a microphone and presenting you with an evening of fun, jokes and maybe even some hard-hitting financial advice if the situation calls for it. She is also, in her own words, “rarer than a blessing of unicorns, original, and relatively calm”. Seriously, need I say more?
